Frequently Asked Questions
Some of our FAQs are addressed below. Additional questions? Contact us here.
Q.DO THE COURSES REALLY ONLY TAKE FOUR DAYS?
A. Yes and no! The courses are, in fact, designed to where a student can go through the core materials in a matter of four days, but we do pack a semester’s worth of curriculum into the ancillary materials. Each course also has assignments, quizzes and goals that should be completed if you are seeking certification. Regardless, courses will be open to students for 90 days at which time you can complete a course for certification at your own pace and access all course materials during that time.
Q.ENRICHMENT vs. CERTIFICATION. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
A. If taking a course for enrichment, you go through the curriculum as a course of self-study, completing as many of the assignments as you choose. Certification requires that you complete the specified assignments and submit your Assignment Journal/Portfolio for review. For certification, you have up to 90 days to complete the course and submit for certification. Once the review is completed, you receive a Certification of Completion. If still within the 90 days, you may re-submit your Journal/Portfolio review repeatedly to achieve certification.
Q.AM I REQUIRED TO HAVE MY OWN EQUIPMENT?
A. No, but it does help. To have a truly hands-on experience you will need equipment to work with. Each course, if needed, will also have equipment recommendations to get the most out of that course.
Q.DO YOU OFFER FINANCIAL AID?
A. We try to keep our courses inexpensive and affordable. At this time, we do not offer financial aid.
Q.WHY ARE SOME OF THE COURSES DIFFERENT PRICES?
A. Some of the courses go on sale from time to time and other courses (such as the “Learn Wedding Videography” course are incredibly in-depth, and while an in-depth course can be completed in four days, students may choose to take these courses at a slower pace to get the most from them.
Q.ARE COURSE CREDITS TRANSFERABLE TO COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES?
A. At this time these are not accredited courses. We do offer certificates and focus on the vocational aspects of each course.
Q.WHAT IF I AM THINKING ABOUT GOING TO ANOTHER SCHOOL OR PROGRAM FOR A 2- OR 4-YEAR DEGREE?
A. Short sessions are a great way to find out what emphasis you may be searching for, gain experience, or just simply make sure you are ready for an extended film school. There are multitudes of successful filmmakers who did not go to a 4-year program, but made their way by, well, just making movies.
Q.WILL SHORT COURSES REALLY HELP ME?
A. Experience, experience, experience. Ask yourself this instead: Will working on a film shoot or a television show help me? Will writing a professional script set to industry standards help me? Will it help me to learn about distribution or what festival director’s look for from filmmakers? The answer: Absolutely. Nothing replaces experience. In our sessions, you will gain valuable experience on one or more projects, get exposure and build your resume.
Q.DO YOU OFFER REFUNDS?
We offer refunds for any reason within the first 48 hours of receiving access to a course as long as the enrollee has not moved beyond the first unit. Once an enrollee moves beyond Unit 1 (in any course) or if the first 48 hours expires, refunds are no longer available . If you would first like to experience the depth, breadth and quality of one of our courses, please enroll in our free “Introduction to Photography” course to see if our program is right for you.
