This course will take the skills taught in Intro to Filmmaking and move forward in the process, teaching teaching the next level of core production elements while reinforcing the basics. The course will take students beyond the micro-short and into the world of short film production, teaching not just the elements of pre-production, production and post-production, but diving into the necessities of lighting, sound and more advanced camera work.

This course will also introduce students to various perspectives on the study and production of film and media theory and production. Students will gain a historical understanding of media as well as its application. View the course outline here.

REQUIREMENTS: Equipment wise, this class expects students to be able to have access to a video camera, a microphone and two studio lights.  For the productions themselves, the expectation is that students have access to one or two people who can be used as crew; as well as two people that can be used as actors.  The core assignments for this course do require the use of two actors.
